Categories and Prices

The purpose of the professional driver qualification (Code 95) is to improve the qualifications of professional drivers and distinguish them from non-professional drivers.

Qualification Exams

Drivers who obtained categories D1, D1E, D, DE after September 10, 2008, or categories C1, C1E, C, CE after September 10, 2009, must pass the initial professional qualification exams in order to perform commercial transport operations.

Validity Period

A driver’s license with an entry confirming professional qualifications (Code 95) is valid for 5 years.
The periodic training lasts 35 hours (5 sessions).
After completing the periodic training, the driving school issues a certificate valid for 5 years.

What is Code 95?

The purpose of the professional driver qualification (Code 95) is to improve the qualifications of professional drivers and distinguish them from non-professionals.
This is determined by Directive 2003/59/EC, which applies to EU citizens and third-country nationals working in EU member states, including those employed by companies registered in Latvia, who perform commercial transport operations with D1, D1E, D, DE or C1, C1E, C, CE category vehicles.
(Exceptions are specified in Articles 6.1 and 30.1 of the Road Transport Law.)

Mandatory Training for Drivers

In accordance with Directive 2003/59/EC of 15 July 2003, aimed at enhancing the professional level of drivers and distinguishing professional drivers from non-professionals, drivers of vehicles in categories D1, D1E, D, DE or C1, C1E, C, CE, who are engaged in commercial transport, must undergo periodic training within a five-year period.

The duration of the periodic training is 35 hours (5 sessions).

The training fee is €100.00 – €70.00 excluding VAT.
For groups of 10 people – individual training schedule and price.

After the periodic training, the driving school issues a certificate valid for 5 years. Upon presenting the certificate to the CSDD (Road Traffic Safety Directorate), a driver’s license will be issued with an entry confirming professional competence (code 95).
